I installed a copy of Optimize My Site by Jeremy Palmer on my server a couple of months ago. If you haven’t heard about this program, and you may not have, it’s only because the software was quietly released without much fanfare. Jeremy developed the software for his own use so that that he could track his affiliate campaigns. If Jeremy’s super-affiliate status is any indication, you can probably assume this software just might be a valuable tool in your affiliate marketing arsenal.
So what is Optimize My Site? Well, it is a tool to track PPC (Pay-Per-Click) campaigns. The thing about PPC is that you can lose a lot of money very quickly. The average Adwords beginner tends to just pick a bunch of keywords, throws them into an adgroup, loses a lot of money quickly and abandons PPC. This is a shame. Almost every significant Internet Marketer uses Adwords as a part of their marketing strategy. It is the quickest way to get traffic to your site to test the viability of various campaigns. However, you need to know what you are doing.
So after you’ve read everything that Perry Marshall and others have taught about Adwords (or PPC in general), you need to get some type of software that will track what’s going on. The key point that every good marketer will tell you, is that it is essential to track your results. Track, Track, Track. If you don’t know what’s working and what’s not then you’re just marketing in the dark.
Optimize My Site tracks your campaigns (Google Adwords, Microsoft adCenter and Yahoo Search Marketing) at the keyword level and reveals which keywords are producing a profit and which aren’t. You then simply eliminate the non-productive keywords (or tweak your landing pages) and put your energy into getting the positive keywords to perform even better. You could, for example, increase your daily spend for those profitable keywords or try to improve the conversion rate on the pages that those keywords point to.
It makes life so much easier. Tracking keywords and conversions is very time consuming, I’d rather be doing something more creative and Optimize My Site provides that opportunity.
Optimize My Site integrates with many of the major affiliate networks such as Commission Junction, Linkshare, Share a Sale and ClickBank. It also cloaks your links.
I found installation of this server-side software quite straight forward and anyone that has ever installed a Wordpress blog or created a database on their server should find it a breeze. On the other hand, Jeremy also provides a lot of support. Excellent documentation and video support provide everything that you need to make the installation and learning of this software easy. So, don’t be intimidated if you have not installed anything on your server.
This is really an excellent piece of software and does what it says it will. Good product, good support. Highly recommended.
